Almost the perfect BNSF train.

YOU CAN’T BEAT the diversely liveried lash-up of engines that greeted me at Burlington Northern Santa Fe’s East Thomas Yard, Birmingham, Alabama, on October 15th. The three locomotives were wearing the old version of the BNSF colour scheme, as well as the two main paint jobs worn by the massive Class 1’s constituent railroads, the Burlington Northern (albeit the final ‘whiteface’ version) and Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe.

The locos were GP38-2 No. BNSF 2332 (in Heritage I), GP39V No. BNSF 2980 (in BN green/black) and GP39-2 No. BNSF 2854 (in Santa Fe blue/yellow). Sadly, this due to a quick coffee stop at a nearby fast food restuarant, this was the best shot that I got of these three locos switching their train.

The only thing missing is the latest ‘Heritage III’ or ’swoosh’ livery, which had only just been introduced at that point anyway.
