ÖBB in Germany

A couple of ÖBB electrics in action.
THE ÖSTERREICHISCHE BUNDESBAHNEN 1144 Class of electrics are common in Germany on Rail Cargo Austria open access duties and DB freight pool workings, sharing the duties with ÖBB’s ubiquitous Siemens ‘Taurus’ machines.
Based on a design of loco first built in the mid-1970s, Österreichische Bundesbahnen 1144 Class No. (91 81) 1144 204-5 (pictured above) was built by Simmering-Graz-Pauker in Graz in 1989. The ÖBB electric was photographed humming southbound through Göttingen, Germany, on April 24th, 2008, with a rake of CarRail Logistics covered car carriers.
No. (91 81) 1144 238-3 wears the rather bland red and two-tone grey colour scheme as it roars north at Fürth, near Nürnberg, with a car train loaded with BMWs. The date was April 28th, 2008.
