InterCity, German style

The ICE units haven’t quite taken over just yet.
I GUESS THAT these are the German versions of the Class 90s, except we don’t really do three-phase drive in the UK. They even look similar-ish.
Delivered during 1987-89, the DB 120 Class was the first production three-phase electrics to enter service in Germany. Passed off to the Fernverkehr division during DB’s ‘privatisation’, they are used exclusively on InterCity and InterRegio passenger trains. One such service is illustrated here at a freezing Nürnberg Hbf, Germany, on February 15th, 2005, with No. 120 418-2 at the helm. Pleasingly to the photographer, it still wears its old orient red colour scheme.
Deutsche Bahn 120 Class electric No. 120 144-1 prepares to leave Hamm (Westfalen) Hbf on April 23rd, 2008, with the IC2013 Leipzig-Oberstdorf InterCity passenger service. Hamm is one of those frustrating locations when something is always happening, but you can only ever photograph a fraction of it.
