The excellent kit maker releases its molten sulfur tank car.

IF YOU CAST your mind back to January, I posted a number of pictures of molten sulfur tank cars, inspired by Rail Yard Models’ announcement that it would be working on a brand new kit for one of these vehicles. These can be found here, here and here.

Rail Yard Models has produced the Trinity 13,500gal version of these vehicles and I was pleased to come across another shot, which I had inexplicably passed over, that shows an example of the AFPX (Honeywell International) tanks that I thought I had failed to capture on my travels.

The car, No. AFPX413331 cab be seen above at Hagerstown, Maryland, on March 15th, 2005. Annoyingly it’s been ‘tagged’ by vandals, but other than that it looks to be an excellent potential modelling project, especially as the first number schemes to be offered by RYM includes both AFPX and GATX only.

More shots of these vehicles can be found below. Hopefully the other paint jobs will be offered by RYM in due course.

This promises to be a top quality release, at least if Rail Yard Models’ previous freight cars are anything to go by, so make sure you order a couple!
