SBB Cargo ‘Traxx’ locos and a line-up of Re 460s at Bern.
OVERHEAD LINE ENGINEERS busily go about their business as SBB CFF FFS Cargo 482 Class ‘Traxx’ electrics Nos. 482 033-4 and 482 025-8 (named Basler Rheinhalfe) pass by with a long southbound intermodal service on October 17th, 2006. Just in view at the rear of the train is SBB Re 4/4ii No. 11298 on banking duties. The white baroque church in the background is named after St Gallus, a 6th-7th Century Irish missionary to Europe.
Illustrating the ubiquity of SBB CFF FFS’ Re 460s perfectly, Nos. 460 040-9 Napf, 460 065-6 Rotsee and 460 011-0 Léman await their departure times at the Swiss capital Bern/Berne, on October 14th, 2006. Even this beautiful country isn’t safe from the Birmingham New Street-style underground concrete stations.
