Two SD40-2s of the Canadian Pacific, Nos. CP 5724 and CP 5765, fly around the curve with an intermodal service on the approach to the crossing with Canadian National at Coniston, Ontario, Canada, on April 12th, 2002. Although it is well into spring, there is plenty of snow still on the ground!

Withdrawn from Amtrak services, with the exception of the Cab-Baggage ‘Cabbage’ Car conversions, the familiar outline of the F40PH is still common on commuter rail operations around the USA, including the large Metra operation in Chicago and wider Illinois. Painted in the distinctive blue/orange/white Metra colours, No. METX 104, named City of Chicago, sits at Vermont Street station, Blue Island, Illinois, with a Rock Island District service on May 3rd, 2002.
