BNSF in Texas and a special North Little Rock UP unit.
ONE OF THE classic Saginaw, Texas, locations, with the massive Attebury Grain elevator looming magestically in the background. Burlington Northern Santa Fe SD70MAC Nos. BNSF 8806 and BNSF 9672 await their passage through the BNSF/UP diamond, just south of this point, with a unit coal train on October 19th, 2005.
Of all the US Class 1s, Union Pacific is the most likely to commemorate an anniversary by, depending on importance, anything from slapping a sticker on the side of a locomotive, right up to a full repaint. The Centenary of North Little Rock’s railroad history in 2004 was celebrated by badging former Southern Pacific SD40M-2 No. UP 2748 (itself an ex-Chicago North Western SD45), and the lightning stripe liveried machine is pictured here two years later on May 26th, 2006, entering Neff Yard in Kansas City, Missouri.
