NOT A MASSIVELY common sight on Austrian rails, Österreichische Bundesbahnen does roster a reasonable number of diesel locos for trip work, shunting and heavier duties off the wires. Developing 820kW (1,100 hp), 2068 Class machine No. 2068 021-1 rolls through Salzburg Hbf on April 21st, 2009, with five bogie wagons in tow, including an Sggmrrss ‘twin’ container flat, two Tadnpss hoppers and a Habbins van.
Österreichische Bundesbahnen service R5916, the 11.20 Linz/Donau Hbf-Passau Hbf, is propelled out of Wels Hauptbahnhof, Austria, by 1142 Class No. 1142 618-6 on April 21st, 2009. The 3,260kW (4,370hp) electric wears the latest red and two-tone grey livery, albeit with original ÖBB ‘S’ logo.
