Spot the difference, JRF’s EF210-0 & EF210-100 illustrated.
JR FREIGHT (JRF) EF210-100 No. 112 speeds off the flyover and onto the Musashino line, at Niishi-Urawa, Saitama prefecture, on July 17th, 2009, with a smart train of Japan Oil Termina Co. bogie tank wagons. There are a number of subtle differences between this, the second production batch of 1,500V dc electric EF210s, and the original build. Note the Eco-Power branding and single-arm pantographs for instance.

Built in Kobe by Kawasaki Heavy Industries, JR Freight’s (JRF) EF210 Bo-Bo-Bo 1,500V dc electric locomotives have been steadily increasing their numbers since the first of the type was introduced in 1998. One of the original 18 production EF210-0 machines, No. 13, thunders through the typical Japanese early summer weather with an eastbound intermodal service at Kiyosu, near Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, Japan, on July 28th, 2009.
