WHAT’S GREEN, HAS two engines and is named after a thoroughbred that won the Princess of Wales’s Stakes in 1948 and five other major races? Yes, it’s the Deltic Preservation Society’s D9009 Alycidon, which has moved to the Nene Valley Railway for a six month holiday, being dragged to the Cambridgeshire line on June 23rd. The BR Class 55 ‘Deltic’ is pictured on shed at Wansford the following day.
