A pair of ‘Bluebirds’ in flight.

UNTOUCHED BY FIRST brandings, the attractive blue and orange livery of GB Railfreight’s No. 66716 stands out against the rather plain background of New England, Peterborough, as the Class 66/7 pulls away from the GBRf depot with the 4O20 05.37 (Q) West Burton Power Station to Mountfield containerised gypsum on July 6th, 2004.

First GB Railfreight’s No. 66718 and its train of JNA ballast box wagons snake out of March Whitemoor Yard on May 12th, 2006. This was one of the first workings for the doyen of the Metronet-branded batch of GM-EMD Class 66/7s, and it was still yet to receive its Gwyneth Dunwoody name (the then Chair of the Parliamentary Transport Select Committee, applied at Euston in January 2007).
