A pair of GM-EMD roster images.

WEARING WHAT I consider to be the classic Union Pacific livery - with the addition of the simple “We Will Deliver” logo - before the railroad went mad on flags, wings and lightning stripes, SD9043AC No. UP 8035 crawls past Cajon Pass Summit, California, on April 19th, 2007, as part of a four unit GM-EMD lash up leading a eastbound double stack container train.

Continuing the visual heritage with the old Santa Fe RSD-15 ‘Alligators’, ATSF had a number of ’snoot’ 123-inch nose SD40-2s on the roster. The BNSF 6858 was pictured at Burlington Northern Santa Fe’s Argentine Yard, Kansas, on May 28th, 2006, mixed up with standard length nose machines and a couple of ex-Burlington Northern units.
